Jul. 10, 2007

Luxury private island resort off the coast of Antigua earns the most sought-after recognition from travel's most sophisticated readership

ANTIGUA - Jumby Bay, A Rosewood Resort has earned the distinction of the "World's Best Caribbean Resort" from Travel + Leisure in the magazine's 2007 World's Best Readers' Survey. Travel + Leisure's sophisticated readership voted the renowned private island retreat the number one resort in the Caribbean, Bermuda, and the Bahamas in the magazine's annual and much anticipated poll which will be featured in the August 2007 issue and online at www.travelandleisure.com/worldsbest.

One of the most sought-after recognitions in the travel industry, Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards 2007 readers' survey ranks Jumby Bay the #1 hotel in the Caribbean, #10 in the small hotels category, and 14th on the list of top hotels in the world. Readers were asked to score hotels on rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food and value. Jumby Bay earned the readership's highest award in the Caribbean category, receiving an overall score of 92.24.

The 300-acre private island retreat located two miles off the coast of Antigua has long captivated guests with the highest levels of service, privacy, exclusivity and natural island beauty. Jumby Bay exudes culture and sophistication amid relaxed luxury, as well as distinctly personal service and unparalleled security. The Jumby Bay "inclusive" experience beckons with the inviting atmosphere of a private club, making every guest feel like a private resident of the island. There are no cars permitted on Jumby Bay and guests navigate the private island paradise by golf cart and old-fashioned Caloi bicycles.

With expansive white-sand beaches, Jumby Bay offers 52 newly refurbished and casually elegant accommodations, including 40 suites and 12 villas decorated with British Colonial furnishings, Italian linens, and lush and romantic al fresco garden bathrooms arranged for utmost privacy. There are also seven individually designed and decorated lavish private estate homes, each valued at upwards of $15 million. The fully staffed estate homes come with private housekeeper, chef, gardener and many come with private pools, beaches, tennis courts and more, offering guests the ultimate home-away-from-home experience with full access to Jumby Bay's world-renowned amenities and service.

Today, Jumby Bay is managed by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, the luxury hotel company that manages some of the most exclusive properties worldwide including The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, The Carlyle in New York, Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos, Mexico, Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda among others. Rosewood's unwavering commitment to the highest standards in service undoubtedly helped catapult Jumby Bay to the top of Travel + Leisure's World's Best Award Survey in the Caribbean category.

"We are extremely honored and proud to see Jumby Bay voted number one in the Caribbean and recognized as one of the world's best resorts by the sophisticated readership of Travel + Leisure," said Bob Boulogne, COO of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. "The award speaks volumes about the distinctiveness of Jumby Bay, its location and service, as well as the hard work and dedication of the entire staff who strive everyday to make the resort experience exceptional for every guest who stays there."

In an age when protecting the environment is top priority for conscientious travelers, Jumby Bay stands out as a leader in eco-tourism. The resort's Pasture Bay Beach is a protected nesting site of the Hawksbill Turtle, as well as a privately funded research project sponsored by island residents and under the direction of the University of Georgia. The program offers ecologicallyminded guests the opportunity to "turtle watch" during nesting season and to play an active role in the endangered species' preservation. Jumby Bay is also a naturalist's paradise, playing host to a variety of wildlife including sheep, White Egret and Blue Pelican.

Jumby Bay is no stranger to accolades, having previously been honored by Travel + Leisure, ranking #7 for "World's Best Service" in the Caribbean in 2007, and earned a place in the "T+L 500," Travel + Leisure's definitive guide to the greatest hotels worldwide. The resort was ranked #12 in the Caribbean in Travel + Leisure's "World's Best" Award Readers' Survey in 2006.

Summer rates start at $775 per night, inclusive of breakfast, lunch, dinner, beverages, cocktails by the glass and use of non-motorized watersport equipment. Rates are in U.S. dollars, based on double occupancy per bedroom and are subject to tax and service charge.
